Rudyard
Kipling wrote, "Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware --
of giving your heart to a dog to tear."

I called this our "Vulcan Dog Mind Meld." All I had to say was "VDMM!" and she would put her forehead to mine. I usually did this before a search--it charged us both up. |
At age 15 years 7 months, Michelle Barbara passed away on Labor
Day, Sept 6 2004.
As a search dog, she found two people alive and several not. Michelle
served as a Doberman diplomat all her life by performing countless
shows for school children and adults. Who could have thought that
a Doberman could help a handful of dog phobic people overcome their
fear of dogs.

Some of her tricks included barking and sneezing answers to addition
and subtraction problems, dropping dead when I shot her with my
hand and saying her prayers.
Best of all, Michelle was a Shelby. A big sister and protector to
Tara, Kerry and Brett. She was a daughter, protector and a partner
to me.

She had a great life |
| IF |
you can resist
complaining and boring people with your troubles,
|
| IF |
you can resist treating
a rich friend better than a poor friend,
|
| IF |
you can face the
world without lies and deceit,
|
| IF |
you can honestly
say that deep in your heart you have no prejudice against creed,
color, regligion or politics
|
Then, my friends, you are
almost as good as your dog.
Michelle--thank you for sharing your spirit with us.
